Introduction:

Almost all browsers allow their users to block specific types of advertisements but users of Opera have this particular functionality right at their finger tip. You can simply block any annoying advertisement by simply clicking on the ad and blocking it. If Opera’s internal functions aren’t enough, you can even download various extensions and add-ons for example adblock for opera and others.

It’s that simple. Follow this step by step guide and learn how to block ads in opera.

Step # 1 — Opening up any website

We will log in to a hotmail account to show you how to block content manually in opera.

Notice the ad towards the right side of the inbox. In opera, all you have to do is move the cursor over the ad, right click and select the «Block Content» option.

Step # 2 — Blocking the advertisement

With that done, hold the shift key on the keyboard and click on the element that you want to block, in this case we will click on the banner advertisement. Merienda you’re done, the content you selected will be blocked.

Now, even if you refresh the browser, the advertisement towards the right side of the inbox won’t be displayed.

Step # 3 — Adding details

Now simply click on the done button and that’s it. You can click on the details button to add preferences in your browser. This will help you in creating a block list so that you can block ads in opera more efficiently. For example, click on the add button and type in a generic url that might be used for advertisements by websites.

Step # 4 — Adblock Add-on

If you don’t want to manually block advertisements yourself, you can download add-ons that do the job for you. Plug-ins like adblock for opera and others are available in the add-ons sections on opera’s website.
